The Log highway tunnel is part of the new HWY connection between Draženci and the Gruškovje international border crossing. The tunnel consists of a tunnel section and two portal galleries, which form two different structures. With a length of 148 metres, the Log highway tunnel is the shortest tunnel on the Slovenian highway cross. It is designed with a reinforced concrete central column between the two tubes, which is necessary to reduce the interaction between the tunnel tubes in construction. The tunnel passes entirely through favourable geological conditions or through a geological structure dominated by sandstone.
The inner tunnel tube is connected on both sides to a tubular portal structure and then to portal galleries ending in wing walls. In the design of the Log Tunnel, much attention was paid to the architectural design of the galleries, at the request of the client.
