Project description
The Log Tunnel is part of the new highway connection Draženci-international border crossing Gruškovje. The tunnel is short, consisting of a tunnel section and portal galleries. The portal galleries form two different structures. The inner tunnel tube connects to the tubular portal structure and then to the portal gallery, which ends with a wing wall. The outer tunnel tube ends in a classic tubular portal. The overall portal construction is identical for both the north and the south portal. The tunnel is scheduled for completion in 2018.
Technical features
The 105m-long tunnel is the shortest tunnel on the Slovenian highway cross. Due to the length of the tunnel, the alignment of the shoulder lanes on the route does not change, which means that the total width of the roadway in the tunnel is 10.50m. The tunnel is designed with a reinforced concrete central pillar between the two tubes, which is necessary to reduce the interaction between the construction of the two tunnel tubes. The tunnel passes entirely through sandstone.
