Project description

As a part of the planning of the Ljubljana Market Hall building, a three-storey garage is planned in the basement of the building. For the construction of the building, it will be necessary to protect the excavation of a construction pit up to a depth of 12.30 m. The protection of the excavation of the construction pit is planned using a membrane wall (i.e. diaphragm wall) made of reinforced concrete.

Technical properties

The construction pit will be in trapezoidal shape with approximate dimensions of 78×101 m. The circumference of the construction pit will be approximately 340 m and the surface area 6880 m2. In the southern part, towards Castle Hill, the diaphragm wall will be 0.60 m thick and reach up to 16 m depth. In the northern part, towards the Ljubljanica River, the diaphragm will be 0.80 m thick and reach the depth of 24 m. The diaphragm wall will be spanned by a supporting floor slab at a level of -5.3 m and will run around the entire perimeter of the construction pit. It will be partially anchored along Dolničar Street and Kopitar Street with pre-stressed geotechnical anchors.
