On the basis of the National Spatial Plan, Vrbina, Krško has been selected as the site for the NSRAO repository (a disposal site for low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste). As part of the planning of the environmental monitoring of the disposal site, it was necessary to drill additional boreholes for groundwater monitoring.
Drilling works on the project:
- Drilling works on five shallow and two deep piezometers.
- Structural drilling with double tube core barrels in Miocene bedrock using polymer flushing and reaming with a 215,9 mm diameter roller cone bit for the piping of the piezometers.
