Project description
Kraški zidar d.d. has already expanded the quarrying area of the Mali Medvejek quarry several times due to the exhaustion of the mineral raw material, most recently with the Phase III extension. The exploitation of the area of the basic quarrying area and the subsequent phased increase of the mining operations in the new areas have led to the discovery of new areas that need to be technically rehabilitated and biologically recultivated or restored to their original state to the greatest extent possible. Due to the very nature of the terrain and the geological composition of the deposit, the quantities of waste rock and overburden are insufficient to carry out adequate rehabilitation and biological reclamation of all the areas of the Mali Medvejek quarry degraded by the mining operations. Kraški zidar d.d. has decided to obtain sufficient quantities of suitable remediation material by processing construction waste within the quarrying area of the quarry.
Technical properties
The activity of the Collection Centre is the collection and treatment of construction waste (classification number 17) under the R5 procedure.
